Thoughts (I): Patrick Watson and Questioning Everything

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to write more, which I've failed miserably. Not because I don't have anything to write about, if I'm honest, I'm constantly having thoughts in my mind, but they just stay there; I tend to get inside my head quite a bit. I don't know why today I felt like writing about something, anything really, I just thought ''start typing and see where it goes''. So here I am now, listening to Patrick Watson (which doesn't really help at all) questioning all my life decisions while mind-fucking questions pop up in my mind:

Who I am?
Who I want to be?
What do I want achieve?
What is my purpose in life?

Lately I've been doing this a lot, which can be a bad thing to do at times, because I can get very frustrated for not knowing the answers. I've always been very envious of people who have a very clear vision of who they are and what they want to achieve. I've also been very envious of people who don't think they need to know any of these answers, they just go with the flow. In my case, I've never been neither of them, I've tried, you can be sure about that, but it has always ended up as an attempt.

Why do we have the need to answer these questions? Is it really for ourselves or for the people who are around us? People usually prefer to know about everyone else but them.

''What do you want to be when you grow up?'' or ''do you know what are you going to study in University, Julia?'', are questions that I've been constantly asked by other people all my life and I've never really understood why people do that, even though I do it too. Is it so I can show off? Is it so I can sound interesting? Or is it so they can feel better about their career choices? I really don't know. The only thing I know that right now is that I don't have a clear answer for any of these questions. Yes, I'm so lost, but I won't let this stop me living life in my own weird way.

As I'm writing this, I realize how good Patrick Watson is, I don't know why I don't listen to his music more often. I also realize that tomorrow I have an exam and I need to study, so I have to stop rambling on.

This is for all the lost souls. I'm here with you and I celebrate you.

Happy New Year! + 2016 Resolutions

Once again, long time no see. If you have followed my blog for a while you'll know that I have considered myself the worst blogger in history on various occasions and I still firmly believe that. I really don't want to look at when was the last time I posted a blog post. Is it still too late to say sorry...? I hope you accept my apology. Anyway, whether you do or you don't, allow me to wish you... A Happy New Year!

(via Giphy)

Time flies so fast and it literally freaks me out. Seriously though, the world needs to slow down. 2015 has been an interesting year, a little bit all over the place if I'm honest. I've learned a lot, mostly about the people around me. I've discovered great music, films and series. I've created amazing memories with my friends. There has also been bad moments, of course, but I always try to look at the bright side of everything.

If I'm honest, I don't really do the ''New Year's Resolutions'' thing (other than the life goal of eating healthier and doing more exercise, but you know, everyone has these ones), because I'm too much of a procrastinator and I've always thought than doing this would be a waste of time, but this year I feel different, there's something about 2016 that is giving me a very good vibe. Without further ado, these are my 2016 resolutions.

1. Find out who I really am and just enjoy being it.
2. Stop being scared of saying what I really think.
3. Start liking things because I really do and not because I want to impress someone or ''be cooler''.
4. Be more straight forward.
5. Be more confident.
6. Be more accepting of my body.
7. Learn how to play the guitar or the ukulele.
8. Stop over-thinking stuff way too much.
9. Do things because I want to and not because is what society or other people want me to do.
10. Go to the cinema regularly.
11. Travel more.
12. Write more.
13. Read more.
14. Create more in general.
15. Work harder in my studies.
16. Exercise more.
17. Stop worrying about what people think.
18. Meditate.
19. Be the best friend I can be to my friends.
20. Remember to have fun.
21. Be more grateful for everything I have.
22. Learn to letting go.
23. Being able to choose who I really want in my life.
24. Be more spontaneous.
25. Stop being scared about the idea of love.
26. Get rid of the shitty people in my life.
27. Just be myself, once and for all.

Thank you for reading! What are your New Year's resolutions? I would love to know.

Julia.

The Weekly Playlist (I)

Music is a very big part of my life, I listen to music every-single-day. It might sound extreme, but I really don't think I could live without music, it just helps me in so many ways and can affect or change my mood so easily. I like to listen to a huge variety of styles, it just depends on the day, maybe one day I wake up and I just want to listen to all the rock classics from the 80s and the next day I want to listen to the latest Drake album. Seriously. That is why I decided to share with you my love for music, providing you a new music playlist created by yours truly each week. You are so welcome (unless you don't like my music taste, if that is the case,  I'm sorry).

This week's playlist will take you on a journey from the late 70s with two classics by Supertramp and also a little bit of Bob Dylan, going through a Pulp Fiction moment with the song ''Girl, you'll be  women soon'' by Urge Overkill, to some lovely indie-rock songs and ballads of the last few years. There is also a lot of other great songs in this playlist (actually they are al great), but I want you to be surprised.

What is your favourite song of the week? I'd love to know.

50 Thoughts I Have The First Day of School

It's September, fellow student friends, and that can only mean two things: you've already started school (or university) or you are just about to start. I know, the excitement is too much for your body. In honor of that, I decided to write a post about the ''50 Thoughts I Have The First Day of School'' and some of them you probably have too. Let's celebrate education together because, why not?

1. *6:30 alarm goes off* Just 5 minutes more.

2. *6:35 alarm goes off* Just 10 minutes more.

3. *6:45 alarm goes off* Where did I sign up for this?

4. The sun is not even out, how is this legal?

5. Today is the day my social live disappears.

6. Where did the summer go?

7. Thank God for breakfast! You are the best thing that will happen this morning.

8. Wow, I look so tired. Mascara to the rescue!

9. What am I going to wear today?

10. I wish it was acceptable to wear PJs to school.

11. I've never understood the people who dress up so much the first day of school and the next day just wear sweatpants and hoodies.

12. I have nothing to wear.

13. I think I'll just wear jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers. Clearly, today is about comfort, not about style.

14. Why didn't I prepare my backpack last night?

15. This year I'm going to be so organized.

16. I think I said the same thing last year.

17. Where are my keys?

18. Why do I always lose my keys?

19. Calm down Julia, they are on the table.

20. I woke up so early but I think I'm still going to be late.

21. Run, run, run!

22. I hope I haven't left anything at home.

23. Where is my phone? WHERE IS MY PHONE?

24. It's in my jeans' pocket. What a relieve! Oh, hey fellow humans, I'm not crazy...

25. I'm only excited to see my friends.

26. So many people... Too many people. By the way, why is everybody so tanned and I'm not?

27. Friends located, finally. It's going to be hard but we're all in this together!

28. It would be cool if someone new came to my class.

29. It would be cool if someone who looks like Chris Hemsworth came to my class.

30. It would be cool if Chris Hemsworth came to my class. Or was my teacher.

31. My grades would be so fantastic. But this is physically impossible.

32. There's way too many people to fit in this tiny class.

33. I hope everybody showers regularly, preferably daily.

34. This class is going to smell so bad in less than a week.

35. No one wants to be here.

36. Neither the teacher. He/She doesn't want to be here!

37. Wow, he/she hates his/her job.

38. I nearly forgot how to write.

39. Homework already? It's THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.

40. The clocks in this school are slower than regular ones, I swear.

41. This is not that bad.

42. But why so early?

43. I'm so tired.

44. I only have a couple of hours left to go. I'm a survivor.

45. Everyone looks so depressed already and it's just the first day.

46. This is too funny.

47. *The bell rings* You are my savior, I love you.

48. Lol, everyone is literally running to go home.

49. Well, that was a journey.

50. I just have to do this for 9 months more and it will be Summer again.

What are your thoughts during the first day of school? I would love to know.

My 3 favourite blogs

Today I want to tell you all about my favourite blogs, you'll probably know at least one of them because they are pretty popular, but if you don't I'm sure you'll want to follow them ASAP. I think all the blogs I read fit in one these categories: beauty, fashion or lifestyle, that's why I decided to chose one of each category, it was a little difficult to narrow all the options, because I do follow a lot of blogs in Blogovin (that by the way, you should follow mine too there if you haven't already).

What you'll notice in these blogs is that even if they're known for fashion, beauty or lifestlye, they also post posts about other topics, so it's not strictly only one category, which I think it's great because it shows how versatile these blogs are.

Here is my list.

1. The Man Repeller (by Leandra Medine and Amelia Diamond)
Category: Fashion
I can confidently say that this is my favourite blog in the whole world. I could do a whole post about how much I love Leandra Medine, she taught me the ways of #ManRepelling! What more could I ask for? She's just the coolest person ever, am I right ladies? The blog is primarily about fashion but they also write posts about so many topics (beauty, humor, advice...), you can find blog posts called ''The Things We Learned: Long Live the Boy Band!'' to ''What Your Breakfast Says About You''. Yes, I know, you already love it. It's one of the few blogs which makes me laugh at loud while reading it, I love their kind of humor and how they are not afraid to say what they think. Moreover, their style is fantastic, I would totally have their wardrobes in a heartbeat. I think it's the only blog I read every-single-day.

2. Vivianna Does Makeup (by Anna Gardner)
Category: Beauty
I've been subscribed to Anna's Youtube channel for a few years, but it wasn't until a couple years ago that I discovered her blog. She has, hands down, the best beauty recommendations in the world and I trust her so much, every-single-time she recommends something, there is a 90% possibility that'll end up buying it and consequently, loving it. I call it #TheAnnaEffect, it just hits me every time. What I also love about her is how down to earth, genuine and bubbly she is, she truly seems like a really nice person. Another thing I love is the way she writes, because it's like you are reading a letter that a friend wrote for you about a certain topic, I don't like when posts are serious, I like a little bit of humor and also, I'm all about the FRIENDS references she does.

3. A Beautiful Mess (Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman)
Category: Lifestyle
They have the best DIY's and recipes I've ever came across with. They upload so much content but the quality is fantastic, they are very informative, they have beautiful pictures and I'm sure you will want to make as many DIY's and recipes as you can, I've tried some of them and they've always ended up looking as expected. The people who run this blog all seem like such nice, fun and creative people, which is always great to know. As you can see, I only have great things to say about this blog, so if you are more into lifestyle blogs, this is the one for you, I'm sure you will love it as much as I do.

What are your favourite blogs? I would love to know.
